We are very excited that Kety Esquivel has joined AnitaB.org as Vice President of Marketing and Communications. Kety brings extensive experience in senior leadership roles at leading public relations and communications agencies, most recently as an Executive Vice President at Edelman in Miami. In addition, Kety brings broad experience with non-profits and technology start-ups, and a long-standing commitment to women and diversity to this important role.
Kety is a strategic leader with broad experience leading teams and driving results through media relations, digital communications, and community relations for brands like American Express, the Government of Mexico, Microsoft, and PBS. Advocating for diversity in tech and mentoring other diverse professionals are causes that she has championed and spoken about publicly for years.
Kety has been a “woman in tech” since 2004. However, her passion for women’s issues began before that, more than 20 years ago, as an intern at the UN Economic Commission for Africa. Over the years, Kety has provided commentary and analysis on television and radio, spoken at conferences globally, has been a convener for She’s Geeky, an editor for BlogHer, a Board member for the Netroots Foundation, a consultant for NCWIT, a member of HHF’s Innovation and Technology Advisory Board and the Advisory Board for Yes We Code. Kety is also the founder of the Latin@s in Tech pre-conference at SXSW where she moderated panels of Latina tech entrepreneurs, investors, and women employed by technology giants. She is inspired by the mission of AnitaB.org and firmly believes that equity in tech is both possible and necessary.
While Kety will remain bicoastal, she looks forward to once again working in the Bay Area. We wish her the best of luck and are excited to watch her work unfold as the AnitaB.org team progresses towards their goal of 50/50 by 2025!
