We are thrilled to announce that Elizabeth (Liz) Carey has joined Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF) as their new Executive Vice President, Finance and Operations.
Liz is a seasoned executive focused on high performance and successfully implementing innovative growth and efficiency optimization strategies. She has an exemplary record of performance in driving revenue growth, developing and implementing innovative operational strategies and managing a robust investment program for a $2 billion+ community foundation focusing specifically on increasing manager diversity and inclusive place-based investments to drive positive social change and break down systemic barriers to access.
Her broad experience includes working a range of global organizations from community, corporate and private foundations to international aid organizations (INGOs) and public charities. She is a dedicated social sector leader that has focused on management, governance, operational efficiency and capacity development.
For the past five years, Liz has served as the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF), where her responsibilities have included developing and executing organizational strategy in respect to finance, fund management, investments, operations, trust administration and technology. Prior to her tenure at OCF, Liz served as CFO/COO for the Jewish Federation and Jewish Community Foundation of the East Bay in California. She also worked as Director of KPMG’s International Development Assistance Services. There, Liz’s clients included the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; and, many colleges and universities across the United States.
Liz is a graduate of Penn State University, where she received undergraduate and master’s degrees in accounting, and is a CPA in California, Oregon and Massachusetts. Her volunteer experience includes serving as treasurer of San Francisco Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). Liz is excited to return to the Bay Area with her wife and daughter as a key member of SVCF’s leadership team.
